I've had a really interesting career and as I've started a blog to go along with my new Essendon Tax Consultancy brand, I thought I'd give you a little insight into what I do ...

In the mid-90s, I moved from my hometown of Nottingham to start my career training to be a Chartered Accountant with MacIntyre Hudson in Milton Keynes. When the taxi driver said to me that they have concrete cows in Milton Keynes I didn't have a clue what he was talking about!

After several years of auditing and general accounting, I was seconded to the tax team, and I never went back. In 2003 I qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor.

My clients thank me for helping them sleep better at night, and that tells me I am doing the right thing. Recently, I had a long-standing client email me that he can open his letterbox now without fear of a brown envelope from HMRC.

I listen to my clients' requirements and advise them based on their individual circumstances, there is no one size fits all when it comes to tax.

I have a particular interest in property taxation and advise a number of buy-to-let landlords and property developers on all aspects of taxation and tax efficient structuring. I also advise on personal taxation, inheritance tax and UK trusts, capital gains tax and UK residency and domicile issues.
